She didnt pull back from the hug and looked out at the fireworks “One of the better ones” she laughed a bit. “You never answered my question” She whispered extremely quietly running her fingers through her hair. She regretted once she said and closed her eyes, thinking that she was too forward.

Gus smiled as she laughed. He was glad she was in better spirits. He wasn’t upset she was in his arms. He watched as she ran a hand through her hair, then registered her statement. “Which question?” he asked, fairly certain he knew which one.

She walked back to the railing and looked away from him. She shook her head and exhaled the breath she didnt even know she was holding this entire time. “Just forget it” She whispered, Not really sure who she was talking either herself or him.

His hands trailed after her as she stepped away, but something held his body back. He ran a hand through his hair, not worrying about the fact that it would be standing on end probably. He wasn’t really sure what was happening, what he should be doing, only he knew it wasn’t just stand there. Something told him to apologize, but for what he wasn’t sure. Something told him to go to her, and he almost listened to that part, taking a step towards her before something else spoke to him. This one told him to reel himself back in, that he had overstepped the bounds of propriety already. So he slipped his hands into his pockets and looked at the roof beneath their feet. “If that’s what you want,” he replied quietly.
